Around a year later, the Virtual Boy console was rebranded into the 'Bonus' section, containing misc. While this was initially criticized, fans soon warmed up as new consoles were added to the service around every 5 months, first the Game Boy Color, then the GBA, the Gamecube, the Nintendo DS, the Wii, the Nintendo 3DS, and finally the Virtual Boy, which was marketed as a sort of 'bonus' console, being added on April 1st 2022. Only NES, SNES, Gameboy, and N64 games were available. At launch, not all consoles were available, as described in the trailer. On April 28th 2021, Nintendo Rewind was finally released. Trials of games can be played as much as the user likes, though if the user wants to keep their save data and without the limited time, they must upgrade to Nintendo Rewind. Soon after the service was released, the original NSO service received free trials of certain games from other consoles, allowing users of the classic service to play games for 1 to 5 minutes until the trial expires, instantly ending the game and erasing all save data on it. The classic NSO service, allowing NES and SNES games only, was reassured to still be available alongside Nintendo Rewind, still receiving new games monthly and even getting an updated look to match that of Nintendo Rewind's interface, and by subscribing to Nintendo Rewind, it will replace the NES and SNES apps on the menu into one singular app, and if the subscription ran out, it will revert back to the NES and SNES apps.

By subscribing to the service, users can pay around 14.99 a year to play these games.

Nintendo Rewind is a video game streaming service similar to that of the Xbox Game Pass, allowing player's to play classic Nintendo games from all of Nintendo's generations from the NES, to the Gameboy, all the way to the Wii. Shortly afterwards, on April 21st 2021, in a video uploaded to both Youtube and Twitter, Nintendo announced they were partnering up with both Microsoft and Tundra Games to make a new streaming service called Nintendo Rewind. While NSO's NES and SNES services were doing fairly well, many criticized the service for not delivering games at a fast enough pace, the overall amount of games, and the lack of more 'modern' consoles such as the N64, Gameboy, or even the GCN. On April 10th, 2021, shortly after both Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the Fire Emblem Collector's Edition were no longer available, Nintendo announced that they were trying to find a way to have a more convenient way to let fans play their legacy content.
